Teman Tapi Mesra (Friends but Intimate)

Teman tapi mesra (TTM) is a bahasa indonesia term which literally means friends (teman) but (tapi) intimate (mesra).

When I first went to Indonesia, I thought it was a very conservative country because as we all know it is a Muslim-dominated country. I even asked my dad if I can wear sleeveless here. Haha! :D After living here for a year and a half, I proved myself wrong. It's basically just the same with the Philippines or sometimes maybe even more liberated due to suppressed feelings kept inside.

TTM is a very popular acronym especially amongst teenagers. The setup is just like flings. Though I cannot think of an exact term in Filipino. If you say you are TTM with each other, it means that you can act just like how couples act - kiss, sweetie tweety stuff, or maybe farther than that. I got a friend who got a bunch of TTMs but I would usually call it his FUBUs (fcuk buddies) and he would say nah, it sounds dirty and he prefers to call it friends with benefits in English. What's the diff? Fine, you're still friends after doing it.

Hmm.. In my opinion, usually at the end girls lose the game. Why? Cause girls are generally emotional. Once they became close with a guy there is a tendency that they would like the guy even if they have a no commitment arrangement. I actually thought about getting a TTM but I realized that I will just be getting myself another pain in the ass.

There are a lot of reasons why people nowadays tend to enter this kind of setup. I can just think of some, maybe you can add some more.

1. They are afraid to commit. Most people has their share of stories regarding heartaches and traumas on serious relationships that is why they just want to have fun and at the same time enjoy the "benefits" of having a partner without worrying too much.

2. They got no time for a serious relationship. I don't really agree with this because when you really like the person, no matter how busy you are, you can always find time. It shows that you're not really into him/her. Again, you just want the "benefits".

3. You are just so horny and don't want to worry about apa-apa (whatever). You are sick of demanding relationships, hate responsibilities, or maybe just want to have pure fun.

I got more reasons but I'm starting to get lazy. It is a sad reality but with this happening I could say that most people's values are really deteriorating nowadays. Sex is nothing. You can do it with whoever. The sanctity of marriage is no longer as precious as before.

Salon Saturday

The entire family went to Plangi. We had lunch there and went to the salon. I got my maniped- silver feet and french manicure (apparently, it chipped off right away coz squanie was sleepy and didn't want to be with the nanny). Dad and Allen had a haircut while Mom had her nails done and her hair set for their wedding and engagement parties tonight (uhuh! 2 parties in one night). I did her make-up, I wonder if it really looked good but nonetheless she got no choice coz she can't do her own make-up. Haha! :) While waiting for Mom to finish at the salon and Dad with his body massage, squanie and Allen accompanied me. We went to 3 mobile (yes, it's a competitor but it's not a CDMA provider so I guess it's kinda fine ) and I bought a new sim card again because they offer this unlimited YM use for only Rp10k/month = P50. cheap enough right? It took me so long to register and stuff then after an hour they were able to send me the needed YM application. Bad thing is the application doesn't show all my contacts (I wonder why?!? but I'm too lazy to complain because it will take decades again for them to respond). Here in Indo, most customer service is really poor because people just accept whatever is handed to them, they get contented easily unlike Pinoys. After that, squanie, yaya, and I went to Centro. As usual, I roamed around the make-up counters and suddenly remembered that I need to buy a make-up primer. I noticed that my make-up doesn't stay that long and I read somewhere that a good primer will help make-up to last longer so I strolled around and look for my options. Most primers cost around Rp140-250k = P700-1250. I saw several brands like Make Up Forever, VOV, Etude, and Bourjois. I was about to buy Etude's but I saw Bourjois' they have the same price Rp145k but Etude's contains more. I really can't decide so I asked the salesladies where Etude's was made, she said it is made in Korea while Bourjois' is from Paris so it became a Korea vs Paris criteria. Well it's kinda obvious, I chose the one from Paris. Haha! Although my brother said, it was Gila! (crazy) 20mL primer for Rp145k which is around Rp7k/mL. Anything for the sake of kagandahan.

Here's what I bought: Bourjois Complexion Enhancer (Apricot shade)

Photo grabbed from: http://www.asos.com

I tried to use it to Mom, I applied L'oreal UV Block first then this Bourjois Complexion Enhancer as a base and it looks good. It gives a glow and it doesn't leave a sticky feel. I read good reviews to this product but thing is it's not pocket friendly. I still need to try out Monistat. Any kind hearted friend from the US who can send me one? haha! :)

On second thought, I wonder why everytime I buy a make-up product, I don't think twice. I should've bought the denim pants from Orange instead. ugh! It has been done so be it.

another so so friday :)

so how was yesterday? i spent most of the time at home with squanie and mom. we had lunch at The Royal Kitchen, an indian buffet resto right below our apartment. the food was so so.. well, pretty fine for Rp45000 but still i didn't enjoy it. it was too spicy for me. we watched Made in Heaven at home. omg! the guy really reminds me of a good friend here in jakarta. are we gonna have the same ending, pop? haha! my not-so-dream guy. at 7ish, dad fetched us but allen wasn't able to come along because he went home late. it was too traffic (indo guys would call it "jammed") that we cannot hit pacific place so we decided to go to setia budi and had dinner at golden century. nothing so special bout it. then, they brought squanie and me home as they fetched allen to watch dark knight. i'm not into movies so it was fine for me to stay behind. so before i slept i had my usual chat with jay then slept early. around 11ish.. boring? well yah, a bit. hopefully, today will get better.

hoping for a good new blog start

tick tack.. tick tack.. yes! finally! i was able to find time to make a new blog account. i had my blog 5 years ago and it is still alive but it is just full of crap and mushiness that nobody would really like to read it. so why did i make a new blog account? hmm.. i don't know either. i just wanted a new space to utter my random thoughts about life.. mummyhood, kikayness, studenthood, and quarter-age crisis (have you ever heard of that? i just heard about it last night. it was my friend, mike's conclusion on why i am feeling so weird and unbalanced lately.) i hope this will be more interesting than my old blog- less drama (i wish) and more fun. plus, more time to update so it won't be just another wasted blog account on blogger.com.
